Elizabeth Falconer
KOTO World
About the Artist
The Taka Koto Ensemble, under the
directorship of koto master Elizabeth Falconer, was formed in 1998.
Its Seattle-area members are committed to expanding the world of koto
sounds as well as promoting appreciation of Japanese culture through
performing the koto, and ancient 13-string instrument from Japan. The
ensemble specializes in contemporary works. Taka means
"Falcon" in Japanese, and refers to the feeling of flight
which can be exemplified in the spirited sound of the strings
reverberating through the air as they are played by the ensemble.
Plum Boy! And Other Tales From Japan
Elizabeth Falconer, Koto Master and Storyteller, tells Japanese
Folktales with warmth and humor and accompanies her stories on the
classical Japanese Koto. This unique CD contains 61:12 minutes of
stories and music recommended for listeners aged 5 and up.
