The Friar’s Map of Ancient America 1360 AD
by Gunnar Thompson

America's Oldest Map
Venetian Commercial Map
Albertin DeVirga, 1414
Facsimile by Thompson

Here we see an expansion of DeVirga’s map. The section in question is the upper left hand corner, which corresponds to the location of North and South America. If this region is expanded and analyzed there are many similarities to Northern North America:
Note 1: is a slender peninsula connected to the arctic (seen on many maps) 2: Is similar to a "Wilt Lapland" on Martin Behaim’s map (1492). 3: Similar to modern maps of Hudson’s Strait 6: A report of European settlements here 7: This area was called the "Island of White People" in Behaim’s map.
For the rest of these notes, please see page 118 of the book

The first map(left) seen here was made by Bishop Resen in 1605 from sources that date back to both the second map(right) (Made By DeVirga in 1414) and maps made my the Medici in 1351. The numbers seen refer to each other, and you can see some of the similarities (page 130)

The left most section of this image is a section of DeVirga’s map, a huge Island Continent that closely resembles the section of Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru of South America, seen on the right.
(page 156)

This map is perhaps the most interesting because it is so easy to read. It was made by Portuguese Cartographer Martin Behaim. His sources include the Nancy Manuscript, and Franciscan Survey maps. The map itself is important because, if the reference documents had been fabrications, the actual map would not have been as precise as it is, nor would it show what we can now identify as Greenland, and Baffin Island.
