Ipupiara
Rainforest Shaman

Description
In this audio presentation, Ipupiara, a shaman of the Uru-e-wau-wau tribe of the Brazilian Amazon shares the story of his life, his training as a shaman, as well as:

  • Why his tribe call themselves "The People of the Stars" and the legend of their ET visitation
  • The Tribal Elders’ Message
  • The world's impact on the Amazon Rainforest
  • A simple technique for purifying and protecting the home
  • Why the world is as you dream it
  • Focusing one's intent
  • Why "we are all shamans" in training and hold this promise in our very DNA
  • Our need for symbols
  • A reminder that shamans are human beings, not saints, nor magicians
  • Reconnecting to the Great Spirit and to Mother Earth
  • The role and tools of shamans
  • Where and how healing occurs.

Ipu’s wife Cleicha performs these traditional chants: Calling upon the Spirits, Honoring Mother Earth, and Chanting for Community.

About Ipupiara:
When Dr. Bernardo Peixoto was born into his mother’s tribe, the Uru-e-wau-wau numbered 2,400. Today 43 members are left. Tribal Elders gave him the Shamanic name "Ipupiara" (Ipu for short) and a long apprenticeship as shaman and healer. They then encouraged Ipu to learn the ways of the developed world. Ipu earned his Ph.D. in Anthropology and Biology and is fluent in English, Spanish, Portuguese and eight indigenous dialects. Ipu is a consultant to the Smithsonian Institute and National Zoo in Washington, D.C. and is skilled in the sacred ceremonies and traditional healing practices of several rainforest cultures.

About Cleicha:
Cleicha was taught the ways of the shamans of the Peruvian Highlands since childhood, speaks several indigenous dialects and languages, and is a recognized expert in Inca ceremonies and healing. She, too, is a university-trained anthropologist. Together, they are devoted to creating bridges between cultures and using ancient shamanic wisdom to effect personal and societal dream change and healing.
