DR. MALIK COTTER
Dr. Malik Cotter began studying Chinese medicine over twenty
years ago. Once he entered the world of traditional Chinese
medicine, nature became his teacher, balance and living in harmony
with his surroundings became his goal. He is one of the few health
care professionals to live, work and study with masters of classical
medicine in China. His teachers have included Dr. Stephan Chang,
noted author and Taoist scholar, and professor Li Zhong Yu, his
primary teacher in Sichuan, China, who holds national recognition as
a master of medicine.
Dr. Cotter's training includes herbology, acupuncture, philosophy,
traditional psychology, tai qi, qi gong, tuina (therapeutic bodywork),
and dietary therapy.
He is now a Diplomate of Oriental Medicine, a Doctor of
Acupuncture, and has recently received a from the Chengdu
Traditional Chinese Medical University in China.
One few Occidental health care professionals to live, work and
study with Chinese masters of medicine, martial arts and meditation,
Dr. Cotter has adapted this knowledge to modern Western
approaches to complementary health. This allows him to bring a
clear and contemporary understanding to today's health care
challenges.
Dr. Cotter says, "Many new ailments are attributed to our twentieth
century lifestyle and in our hope to recapture our balance of health
and longevity people are turning to Chinese herbs. Magazines and
newspapers are filled with articles about herbs for regeneration,
rejuvenation, health and healing. People are searching, and in that
search the ancient methods are being revised, updated and made
available. Herbs do work."
Currently, Malik is Director of the Dragon's Den Herb Shoppe,
with a private practice in Maui, Hawaii. He also teaches and
lectures nationally and internationally, giving seminars and leading
workshops in health and optimal living.
Chinese Herbs
With a history of some four to five thousand years, Chinese
medicine comes to us as an ancient art and science, that is valid and
especially useful in today's world. Its long lineage gives not only
insights into health, disease prevention and cure, but also loans us
philosophies on living, circulation of the life force and spiritual
growth in harmony with nature.
At the core of this philosophy is the concept of balance. All living
things are composed of two equal but opposing qualities - yin and
yang. Each contains within itself qualities of the other, and in
Chinese medicine yin and yang need to be in balance with each
other and with the rest of the universe. An imbalance results in
illness, and balance brings harmony: and when we live in harmony,
natural healing qualities work efficiently and promote a life filled with
happiness and health.
Close to the center of Chinese medicine is herbal therapy. The
Yin-Yang tonics were designed with the guiding principle of balance
in mind, using herbs that work in support of one energies and
promote health and well-being.
The Yin-Yang formulas are also based on Dr.Malik knowledge of
classical formulations
but have been adapted for today's Western lifestyle. They generate
the essential energy needed for restoring health and balance by
increasing our reserves while fortifying our constitution and
strengthening our well-being.
In the coming months, Flora's full line of Yin-Yang Chinese Herbal
Remedies will be available in twelve different formulations in both
liquid and capsule form.
The first six to be introduced are: Golden Passage, Premenstrual
Harmony, Beautiful Lady, Tranquil Spirit, Athletic Tone, and
Crystal Clear Vision.
